Sharon brings over 25 years of professional cooking experience to Ragazza and credits her family with instilling in her a lifelong love for simple and delicious Italian food. Her father hunted rabbit, fished for mountain trout and tended a garden of lettuces, tomatoes, asparagus, figs, potatoes, fruit trees and berry bushes. Ragazza, Italian for girl, is an homage to the women in Sharon's family and grandmothers everywhere, who were tremendously talented cooks!
Sharon attended The Restaurant School in Philadelphia. She moved to San Francisco in 1989 and has worked continuously in management positions at highly regarded San Francisco establishments such as Boulevard, Sol y Luna, Garibaldis, Last Supper Club, Lime and The Slow Club. In January 2007, Sharon opened Gialina, a neighborhood pizzeria named after her grandmother, in the newly revitalized neighborhood of Glen Park.
